Before the description of <b><i>Euthamia weakleyi</i></b> G.L. Nesom, specimens from Alabama were often identified as <b><i>E. hirtipes</i></b> (Fernald) Sieren or <b><i>E. graminifolia</i></b> var. <b><i>hirtipes</i></b> (Fernald) Taylor & Taylor based on earlier treatments. With the description of <b><i>E. weakleyi</i></b> as a distinct entity, <b><i>E. hirtpes</i></b> is excluded from the Alabama flora occurring only along the Atlantic seaboard states.--B.R.Keener
