This species has not been collected in Alabama since the late 1890s and then only in Lee County, Alabama.
Mostly closely related to Solidago brachyphylla Chapman but differing by having "obtuse mucronulate leaves, near all sessile and pale glaucescent, but smaller flowers and fainly ribbed achenes" (Mohr 1898).
