<p>Despite being included in <strong>Mohr</strong>'s <strong><em>Plant Life of Alabama </em></strong>(1901), no specimens were ever located to verify the occurence in the Alabama flora.&nbsp; Because of this, the taxon was excluded from a state wide checklist <em>(Kral et al 2011)</em> and a family treatment for North Alabama <em>(Spaulding et al 2018)</em>.&nbsp; The 2019 discovery in <strong>Jackson County</strong> verified this taxon as an element of the Alabama flora thus now included in the <em><strong>Alabama Plant Atlas</strong></em>&nbsp;<em>(Keener et al 2024)</em>.<em>--B.R.
