Perhaps this taxon is <strong>extirpated</strong> from Alabama. The single known occurence is from a collection made by <strong>Earle and Baker</strong> in 1897 from <strong>Lee County</strong>. Subsequently, this specimen was cited by <strong>Mohr</strong> (1901) [as <em>Leptorchis loeselii</em> (L.) Macmillan] and is curated at the <strong>New York Botanical Garden Herbarium </strong> --see image below. To date, the nearest known location for this species is in TN, hundreds of miles to the north of Lee County, AL<em><strong>--B.R. Keener</strong></em>
